The Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) has witnessed remarkable growth, affirming its role as a national association dedicated to supporting the logistics community.
The VLA is gearing up for a significant milestone with the organization of its 9th Term Congress (2024–2027) under the theme “Unite Strength – Sustainable Development.”

Recently, VLA celebrated its 30th anniversary of accompanying the Vietnamese logistics business community, marking a major milestone as it prepares for the 9th Term Congress.
Scheduled for July 19, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, the congress is a pivotal event to review the achievements of the 8th Term (2021–2024) and outline goals for the 9th Term (2024–2027).
A key highlight of the congress will be the election of the Executive Board for the 9th Term (2024–2027). Under the theme “Unite Strength – Sustainable Development,” VLA emphasizes the spirit of cooperation and collaboration among businesses and stakeholders. Only through solidarity and close coordination can the logistics service industry grow stronger, overcome challenges, and seize opportunities in the fast-changing and unpredictable Industry 4.0 era.
According to the Summary Report for the 8th Term (2021–2024), VLA has made significant strides, solidifying its role as a representative and supporter of Vietnam’s logistics community. The association’s standing has been significantly elevated among the Government, ministries, regulatory agencies, and international organizations.
Prominent achievements include a surge in membership, from 458 to over 750, averaging more than 100 new members annually. The association has prioritized member connectivity through the Executive Board, specialized committees, and office activities, renewing initiatives to enhance support and collaboration.
Legal support, vocational training, and FIATA programs have been regularly conducted, yielding impressive outcomes. VLA has also effectively represented national logistics businesses domestically and internationally, playing a crucial role in achieving the goals outlined in Prime Minister’s Decision No. 221/QD-TTg in 2021.
Notably, VLA has successfully advocated for policy adjustments, submitting concrete recommendations to ministries and regulatory agencies to resolve challenges for businesses. These include revising customs procedures, proposing green lane regulations for road transport, prioritizing vaccination for logistics personnel, and advocating for reduced taxes and fees. The association has also addressed issues like high container shipping costs, empty container shortages, and traffic safety inspections, contributing valuable solutions.
Over the past three years, VLA has contributed nearly 20 draft laws, decrees, and circulars concerning Vietnam’s logistics sector. Notable contributions include infrastructure fees at seaports, proposals for a Vietnamese container fleet, and the Prime Minister’s draft decision on Vietnam’s logistics development strategy for 2025–2035, with a vision to 2045. VLA has also developed and implemented the Provincial Logistics Competitiveness Index (LCI) project.
The 8th Term also witnessed the association’s strong efforts in trade promotion and investment connection. It hosted exhibitions, business-to-business (B2B) meetings with international organizations, and significant logistics events, both domestically and internationally.
Despite the challenges of COVID-19, VLA’s research and training initiatives thrived, with over 1,000 students completing FIATA Higher Diploma programs and 240 participants benefiting from SME-focused courses.
The Vietnam Logistics Research and Development Institute (VLI) under VLA has continued to excel in research, contributing to annual reports like the “Vietnam Logistics Report” by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and studies on urban logistics for the World Bank.

VLA’s leadership is confident that the achievements of the 8th Term will create a solid foundation for the 9th Term, underpinned by an enthusiastic and proactive executive board. This new phase aims to further strengthen the Vietnamese logistics network, aligning with the sector’s sustainable growth and economic development.
The congress serves as a platform for businesses, managers, experts, and authorities in logistics to discuss key issues, propose solutions, and pave the way for sustainable and efficient development.
Interactive activities and networking opportunities will also make the event a vibrant and valuable occasion for all participants.
With passion and determination, the Vietnam Logistics Business Association is confident that the 9th Term Congress (2024–2027) will be a resounding success, fostering unity and strength for Vietnam’s logistics sector.
